Margaretha Norell-Pejner is an Adjunct Lecturer at Örebro University's School of Health Sciences since 2021, holding a Doctor of Medicine degree with clinical expertise as a specialist nurse in district nursing. Her career spans municipal healthcare and inpatient settings, with current responsibilities in nursing education and doctoral supervision.
Her research centers on elderly care dynamics, specifically examining how municipal care environments impact older persons' life balance through e-health interventions and person-centered approaches. Key projects include the REDem initiative rethinking dementia care homes and studying specialist nurses' roles in primary care. Her work consistently explores emotional support systems, care ethics, and technological adaptations in aging populations.
Norell-Pejner's publication trajectory reveals deepening focus on municipal healthcare systems since her 2013 doctoral thesis The bright side of life: support in municipal elderly home care. Recent work analyzes leadership challenges in homecare (2024), pandemic impacts on nursing homes (2023), and digital medication systems (2022), demonstrating methodological versatility across qualitative, participatory, and protocol-driven studies.
She actively contributes to the Elderly Health and Living Conditions research environment and WellCET group, supervising doctoral students while teaching across undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. International experience includes master's program exchanges in Argentina and seminar leadership in Spain and the USA.
