Marie Harder is a Professor of Sustainable Waste Management at the School of Architecture, Technology and Engineering, University of Brighton, and a China National Thousand Talents Professor at Fudan University. She leads the WeValue portfolio of values-based methodologies and founded the Sustainable Behaviour Research Group.
- Research Focus: Values-based approaches for sustainability, group shared values crystallization, environmental management, climate change policy, and urban design.
- Projects: Key projects include the UKRI GCRF Action Against Stunting Hub (2019–2024), PoCCiToNe/iPact coastal cities network (2022–2025), and values-based indicator development for sustainability assessment.
- Education: Holds a DPhil in Nuclear Structure from Sussex University.
Research Outputs span environmental science, public health, and biotechnology, with recent work on ecosystem services in Nigeria, childhood stunting interventions in Indonesia/Senegal, and PHA bioproduction. Her methodologies bridge design thinking, neural processes, and AI frontiers.
