Graz University of Technologyمعرفی
Marie Edmonds is a Professor of Volcanology and Petrology at the Earth Sciences Department of the University of Cambridge, UK. She has held roles such as Vice President and Ron Oxburgh Fellow at Queens’ College, and serves as Director of Research and Deputy Head of Department at Cambridge.
- Ph.D. in Volcanology (2002) from University of Cambridge
- Bachelor of Arts in Geological Sciences (1997) from University of Cambridge
Her research focuses on the cycling of volatiles between Earth's mantle and atmosphere, magmatic volatile impacts on volcanic processes, and hazard assessment. She has pioneered studies on gas-magma interactions, carbon budget quantification, and satellite-based monitoring of volcanic plumes.
Marie's work spans geochemistry, volcanology, and Earth systems science, with a strong emphasis on volcanic degassing, magma storage, and climate modulation. Her publications appear in top-tier journals like Science and Nature Geoscience.
- 2021 Bigsby Medal (Geological Society of London)
- 2020 Joanne Simpson Medal & AGU Fellowship
- 2019 Reginald Daly Lecture (AGU)
- 2019 Volcanic and Magmatic Studies Group Award
- 2017 Wager Medal (IAVCEI)
- 2013 William Smith Fund (Geological Society of London)
Marie has supervised 12 PhD students and secured major grants including COMET and VPlus projects. She has served as an editor for Geochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems and chaired NERC Grants Panel A.
She has been involved in academic leadership roles, including directing the NERC C-Clear Doctoral Training Partnership and chairing the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowships.
