Marie Collins Donahue

Marie Collins Donahue serves as an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Notre Dame's College of Science, Director of the undergraduate minor in Global Health, and faculty member at both the Eck Institute for Global Health and Pulte Institute for Global Development.

Her research spans global health equity, biosocial determinants of health, and infectious disease response, with 15 years of field experience across nine African countries and Haiti. She specializes in health systems strengthening for HIV/AIDS programs (including PMTCT and pediatric care under PEPFAR), Ebola response, lymphatic filariasis elimination, and neglected tropical diseases. Her work integrates clinical pediatrics with population-level interventions, emphasizing community-based solutions in resource-limited settings.

As Director of Notre Dame's Global Health undergraduate minor, she mentors students in field research projects while leading initiatives through the Eck Institute. Her operational expertise includes directing the Notre Dame Haiti Program with the Ministry of Health, designing health workforce programs for the Rwanda Human Resources for Health Program, and clinical Ebola response with Partners in Health.

She maintains active affiliations with the Eck Institute for Global Health (core faculty) and Pulte Institute for Global Development (Faculty Fellow), focusing on practical implementation of health equity frameworks through both academic instruction and on-ground program management.
