Marie-Claire Koissi-Kouassi is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, affiliated with the Actuarial Science Program. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Åbo Akademi University, Finland (Finnish Doctoral Program in Stochastics and Statistics). Her research focuses on Actuarial Science, Applied Statistics, and longevity risk, with expertise in mortality modeling, fuzzy logic applications, and data analytics. She teaches courses such as Data Mining & Machine Learning, Advanced Statistical Modeling, and Mathematical Statistics.
Dr. Koissi-Kouassi has advised numerous students on projects involving mortality-linked securities, longevity risk in solvency frameworks, and predictive analysis of big data. Her work has been recognized, including a Top 10 citation in Insurance: Mathematics and Economics (2006-2011) for her research on extending the Lee-Carter model. She has also contributed to academic programs at Western Illinois University and The Pennsylvania State University, teaching actuarial science, statistics, and mathematics at various levels.
Her research spans fuzzy logic applications in risk assessment, mortality forecasting, and stochastic modeling, with publications in prestigious journals like Insurance: Mathematics and Economics and Scandinavian Actuarial Journal. Her interdisciplinary work bridges actuarial science, demography, and public health, particularly in studies of child mortality in Ivory Coast and pension annuity adjustments in Finland.
