Marie Appelstrand is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Business Law within the Lund University School of Economics and Management (LUSEM). Her work focuses on environmental law and policy, particularly in forestry contexts, emphasizing policy analysis, implementation studies, and gender equality strategies in entrepreneurship within the forestry sector. She holds a doctoral degree from Lund University (2007) and has been actively involved in research projects such as ForestPath and Land, which explore sustainable forest management and multifunctional landscapes.
Her academic contributions span over 23 publications, including articles on environmental compensation in infrastructure projects, peer-to-peer learning among forest owners, and the role of women in forestry entrepreneurship. Appelstrand teaches courses in environmental law, labor law, and legal frameworks for engineers. Her research often intersects with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those addressing climate action, gender equality, and responsible consumption.
