Marice Ashe

Marice Ashe serves as a Lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where she leverages her expertise in constitutional law, consumer protection, health policy, and racial justice. She is the founder of ChangeLab Solutions, a national nonprofit where she served as CEO for 25 years, pioneering law-and-policy approaches to dismantle institutionalized inequities and improve community health outcomes through multidisciplinary partnerships.

Her educational background includes:

As a nationally recognized Public Health Law leader, Ashe focuses on structural interventions for social justice, mentoring students in tackling systemic inequities through legal advocacy. She received the 2023 Professor of the Year Award from the Women of Berkeley Law and serves on the National Academy of Medicine’s Roundtable on Obesity Solutions.

At ChangeLab Solutions, Ashe directed a 60-person team of lawyers and public health experts, creating model laws and implementation guides adopted by governments and health systems nationwide to mobilize resources and empower community-led change.
