Marianne Stewart

Marianne Stewart is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), affiliated with the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. from Duke University (1986), an M.A. and B.A. from the University of Windsor (1980 and 1976). Her research focuses on comparative government, electoral behavior, political participation, and research methodology.

Professional roles include Executive Vice-Dean of her school (2005–2007), overseeing administrative operations, faculty development, and infrastructure expansion. She has held academic positions at UTD since 1988, progressing from Assistant to Professor. Additional roles include Research Associate at Southern Methodist University (2010–2013) and visiting roles at other institutions.

Her awards include the Midwest Political Science Association’s Award of Commendation (2010), recognition for NSF service (2002–2004), and fellowships from Duke University and Rutgers University. Her service contributions include enhancing academic computing resources and improving budgetary processes at UTD.
