Marianna Murdjeva

Marianna Murdjeva is a Researcher at the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology, Medical University of Plovdiv (MU-Plovdiv). She has held roles as a guest lecturer at Comenius University in Bratislava (Medical Faculty) and ESTeSL in Lisbon. Her career includes postgraduate research at the National Institute for Medical Research, London (1992–1995).

Education:

• Graduated in Medicine from Medical University of Plovdiv.
• Specialist in Medical Microbiology and Clinical Immunology.

Research Interests: Focuses on innovative diagnostic methods, neuroimmunology, and translational neuroscience. She explores the role of nature-based therapies in mental health, depression and anxiety biomarkers, and collaborations in molecular and regenerative medicine. Her work also spans environmental health, biobank infrastructure (e.g., BBMRI-ERIC), and pharmaceutical innovations for personalized medicine.

Advising & Grants: Served as Head of the Strategic Innovation and Research Program at MU-Plovdiv (Jan 2023–April 2024). Coordinates national/international projects, including:

• RESONATE (2023–2027): Building resilience through nature-based therapies.
• PERIMED-1 (BG05M2OP001-1.002-0005): Partnerships with Plovdiv University and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
• National University Complex for Biomedical and Translational Research with BBMRI-ERIC.

Labs/Teams: Active in MU-Plovdiv’s Integrative and Creative Research Division and collaborates with divisions like Translational Neuroscience, Molecular and Regenerative Medicine, and Environmental Health within RIMU.
