Dr. Denitsa Simeonova-Pencheva is a researcher and PhD candidate in the Department of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology at the Medical University of Plovdiv. She is affiliated with the Integrative and Creative Research Division focusing on Translational Neuroscience. Her academic journey includes an MD from the same university (2015) and ongoing PhD studies since 2018 under the Medical Faculty.
Her research interests center on psychoneuroimmune mechanisms of depression and anxiety disorders, particularly biomarker discovery, gut-brain axis interactions, and neuroimaging validation. Key projects include the Novel Biomarkers of Depression and Anxiety Disorders (2019–2021), led by Prof. Stoyanov and Prof. Murdjeva, which explores MRI, MRS, and neuroimmunology for diagnostic refinement.
Her publications emphasize neuroimmunological pathways in mood disorders, leaky gut syndrome, and biomarker development. She collaborates across disciplines, engaging with molecular immunology and clinical chemistry for translational applications. Active in multiple research divisions including Molecular and Regenerative Medicine and Innovative Diagnostic Methods, she contributes to cross-cutting medical innovation.
Though no formal awards are cited, her work reflects significant engagement in high-impact psychiatric research. Her PhD research bridges clinical and experimental approaches, addressing unmet needs in psychiatric diagnosis and treatment through integrative methodologies.
