Professor Mariangela Palladino holds dual roles as Professor of Postcolonial and Cultural Studies and Dean of Research at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Keele University. She leads the GCRF-AHRC MADAR Network Plus, focusing on displacement and rights in North Africa. Educated at the University of Naples L'Orientale (MA in English and German) and the University of Strathclyde (PhD in Postcolonial Studies), she has held posts at Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Coimbra Universities. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, her research spans postcolonial literature, migration, and creative methods in advocacy. She has secured over £4.7 million in research grants, including AHRC-GCRF funding for MADAR and CUSP networks.
Her work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, with exhibitions curated on migration and participatory research methods. Key projects include 'Arts for Advocacy' (ESRC-AHRC) and 'MARAM' addressing artists' rights in Morocco. She supervises PhDs on migration, colonial history, and BME student experiences. Teaching innovations include award-winning pedagogical practices for inclusive education.
Administrative roles include AHRC Peer Review College membership and leadership in Keele’s Global Challenges initiatives. Languages include Italian, English, French, Portuguese, and German. Current projects explore Mediterranean migration narratives and postcolonial spatial theory.
