Mariana Chilton, PhD, MPH, is a Professor in the Health Management and Policy department at Drexel University’s Dornsife School of Public Health. She founded and directed the Center for Hunger-Free Communities (2004–2024) and Witnesses to Hunger, initiatives focused on addressing food insecurity and poverty through community engagement. Her work spans research, advocacy, and policy, emphasizing trauma, human rights frameworks, and systemic solutions.

Research Interests: Dr. Chilton’s work addresses food insecurity, health disparities, maternal and child health, trauma, and the intersection of human rights and public health. She advocates for policies that center equity, such as trauma-informed financial empowerment programs and systemic reforms to anti-poverty initiatives.
