Mariana Bahtchevanova

Mariana Bahtchevanova is a Teaching Professor in the School of International Letters and Cultures at Arizona State University (ASU). She specializes in French language education and serves as coordinator for lower-division French courses. Her roles include teaching linguistics and French language courses, mentoring instructors and teaching assistants, and fostering language education through community engagement. She holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics/Rhetoric and Composition from ASU’s Department of English, an M.A. in French Linguistics from ASU, and a B.A. in Romanian Philology from Sofia University, Bulgaria.

Her research focuses on language pedagogy, syntax, and second language acquisition. She actively contributes to the language education community as an executive board member of the Arizona Language Association. Courses she teaches span undergraduate and graduate levels, including intensive French language training, honors thesis supervision, and internship coordination.
