Mariam Sargsyan

Mariam Sargsyan is a researcher at the Ancient Φilosophy Reception (AΦR) group at the University of Zielona Góra's Institute of Philosophy. Her academic work focuses on the history of ancient philosophy and its reception in Eastern and Central Europe. She holds a PhD student status while actively contributing to research projects funded by the National Science Centre. Sargsyan's primary specialization centers on the legacy of Henryk Jakubanis (1879-1949), a scholar of ancient Greek philosophy, and the intellectual history of Kyiv and interwar Poland.

Her research interests include biographical studies of forgotten philosophers, translations of classical texts, and the historiography of ancient philosophy. Sargsyan has co-edited Empedocles: a Philosopher, a Doctor and a Magus (2024), a landmark Polish translation of Jakubanis' seminal work. She has also conducted archival research in Kyiv, Lublin, and Halle, enriching her dissertation on Jakubanis' intellectual trajectory.

Her recent presentations include discussions on Renaissance Platonism at Saint Louis University (2025) and analyses of Bohdan Kieszkowski's post-war scholarship. Sargsyan's work bridges classical studies with modern Polish and Ukrainian intellectual history, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to historical philosophy.
