Mariam Cirovic is a Lecturer and Senior Programme Lead at the University of Surrey's School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering, affiliated with the Computer Science Research Centre. She holds a PhD in Computing from the University of Surrey and an MSc in Computer Science from University College London (UCL). Her research focuses on Ontological Engineering, as evidenced by her PhD work on the Scene of Crime Information System (SoCIS) project, and her subsequent research on the ASPIC (Argumentation Service Platform with Integrated Components) project. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a Member of the British Computer Society (MBCS).
In teaching, she leads the COM1025 (Web and Database Systems) module and co-convenes COM1028 (Software Engineering) and COMM051 (Database Systems). She supervises the COM3001 Professional Project module and teaches across BSc Computer Science, CBM, and MSc Data Science programmes. Her teaching interests span Database Systems, Business Intelligence, and Software Engineering.
Mariam serves as a Senior Programme Lead and Personal Tutor, contributing to academic governance and student support. Her work bridges research in AI-driven knowledge representation with practical applications in software systems and data science education.
