Marialaura Marchetti is a fixed-term researcher at the Department of Medicine and Surgery, University of Parma. She holds appointments in courses such as Applied Physics I-II, Medical Physics, and Physics Applied to Medicine for the Speech and Language Therapy and Medicine and Surgery degree programs. Her research focuses on biophysical mechanisms in bacterial pathogenesis, particularly the interaction between Staphylococcus aureus IsdB protein and human hemoglobin.
Her work involves molecular dynamics studies of hemoglobin-hemophore interactions, X-ray scattering for heme capture analysis, and identifying small-molecule inhibitors to disrupt bacterial iron acquisition. Publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches combining biophysics, microbiology, and structural biology.
Office hours are available by appointment. Contact details include her email marialaura.marchetti@unipr.it and office at the Plesso Biotecnologico Integrato, Via Volturno, 39, 43125 Parma, Italy.
