Maria Waller is a Senior Lecturer in the Geosciences Department at Wellesley College, where she teaches laboratory sections for introductory courses such as Earth Processes and the Environment and The Dynamic Earth. She emphasizes hands-on exploration in both lab and field settings to foster student appreciation for earth processes and scientific uncertainty.

Her research interests focus on science education, particularly developing geoscience activities for preschool and school-age children, and training educators through field-based experiences. She advocates for understanding how scientific knowledge is constructed and the role of uncertainty in science.
