Tracy Gleason is the Nellie Zuckerman Cohen & Anne Cohen Heller Professor of Health Sciences and Professor of Psychology at Wellesley College. She is a developmental psychologist specializing in young children's imaginary companions and social imagination.
- Education: B.A. from Dartmouth College, Ph.D. from University of Minnesota-Twin Cities
Her research focuses on imaginary companions as relationship partners in preschool-aged children, aiming to illuminate social relationship understanding in development. She also investigates moral development and evolutionary parenting practices in collaboration with Dr. Darcia Narvaez (Notre Dame).
Teaching includes courses in developmental psychology, research methods, and the Calderwood Seminar in Public Writing Psychology in the Public Interest. Students work at the Wellesley College Child Study Center.
The Imaginary Lab explores imaginary relationships (imaginary companions, parasocial relationships) to understand real social psychology dynamics. She plays the oboe with the New Philharmonia Orchestra and enjoys family time with her husband and twins.
