Maria Vita Romeo is a Full Professor of Moral Philosophy at the Department of Humanities, University of Catania. She holds leadership roles as President of the Degree Course in Philosophical Sciences and former Director (2015–2024) of CESPES – Interdepartmental Center for Studies on Pascal and the Seventeenth Century. She is actively involved in multiple editorial and academic boards, including the journal «Quaderni leif», the book series 'Fonti e Studi' (Rubbettino), 'dialogos' (A&G cuecm), and the Ethics section at Studium. She is a member of the Italian Society of Moral Philosophy (SIFM), the Adriano Bausola Research Center (CrifipAB), the Interuniversity Center for Studies on Ethics (CISE), and the French Society of Philosophy (SFP). She also collaborates with the Etna Park Authority on environmental and social ethics and contributes to doctoral programs at the Universities of Messina and Palermo.
Her research focuses on Moral Philosophy, especially Environmental Ethics and Modern French Philosophy from the 17th to 19th centuries. She has a special interest in Blaise Pascal, to whom she dedicated the first complete Italian translation of his works. Her work emphasizes the ethical dimensions of nature, particularly Mount Etna, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which she explores through seminars, meditated excursions, and interdisciplinary research. She also works in bioethics, the ethics of communication, and the philosophy of the person.
Her recent publications center around the translation and interpretation of Pascal’s complete works, reflecting a deep engagement with the intersections of philosophy, theology, and science. These works highlight enduring themes such as the 'ethics of the heart', the role of reason and faith, and the moral implications of scientific inquiry.

Her collaborative work includes research teams at the University of Paris-Sorbonne and cultural associations like the Friends of CESPES, which promote public engagement with philosophy.
She directs multiple research and cultural initiatives, including the Interdepartmental Study Center 'Territory, Development and Environment' and the 'Energia EtnEtica' project with the Etna Park Authority. Her leadership extends to international networks such as the Centre International Blaise Pascal and the Société des Amis de Port-Royal, reinforcing her role as a key figure in both national and transnational philosophical discourse.
