Maria V. Snyder is a Meteorologist-turned-novelist and Lecturer at Seton Hill University, where she has mentored MFA students in Writing Popular Fiction since 2007. She holds an MA in Writing from Seton Hill (2007) and a BS in Meteorology from Pennsylvania State University (1988). Her work spans fantasy, science fiction, travel writing, and essays on creative writing techniques.
Her research interests focus on integrating meteorological themes into speculative fiction, exploring cultural storytelling through travel, and advancing pedagogy in creative writing. Over 20 novels and dozens of short stories showcase her expertise in crafting intricate worlds and ethical dilemmas.
Recent publications include Up to the Challenge (2022), The King of Koraha (2021), and Defending the Galaxy (2020). Her works frequently blend adventure with societal critique, often addressing themes of power dynamics and environmental resilience.
