Maria Teresa Trapasso

Maria Teresa Trapasso is a Researcher in Criminal Law at Sapienza University of Rome, Department of Legal, Philosophical and Economic Studies, Faculty of Law. She has been a confirmed researcher since 2011 and currently co-teaches 'Criminal Law of Labor' for both the Law degree program and the 'Human Resources, Labour Sciences and Innovation' program. She also teaches Criminal Law at the School of Legal Professions and serves as a representative of researchers to the Academic Senate since 2022.

She has made significant contributions to understanding corporate criminal liability across different jurisdictions, including emerging markets like South Africa, Brazil, Russia, India, and China. Her recent scholarship addresses historical perspectives on worker protections in Italian criminal law, particularly examining the Fascist era's impact on labor rights.

Her most recent publications reveal a clear trajectory toward analyzing the evolving relationship between flexible work arrangements and criminal liability for workplace safety, while also expanding into European human rights law through detailed commentary on the European Convention. Professor Trapasso has been actively involved in numerous research projects at Sapienza University, including studies on corporate criminal liability in BRICS countries, workplace accident prevention, and the new bankruptcy code's implications for criminal offenses. She has served on examination committees for police commissioner competitions and bar admission exams.

She regularly presents at national and international conferences, with recent contributions focusing on workplace safety criminal protection, incentives within workplace safety systems, and the relationship between domestic law and the European Convention on Human Rights.
