Maria Teresa Gutierrez Rosado

Maria Teresa Gutierrez Rosado is a Professor in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). She holds a PhD in Psychology from UAB (1998) and has extensive experience in addiction research, clinical psychology, and health promotion. Her roles include former Dean (2013–2016), Master’s Program Coordinator (2007–2013), and Vice-Dean for Teaching Quality (2002–2006).

• Education: PhD in Psychology (UAB, 1998), Master’s in Drug Addiction (UB, 1993), Psychology Degree (UAB, 1989)
• Early career: Worked in addiction therapy centers (1989–1991) and held a pre-doctoral fellowship (1991–1994)

Research Interests: Focuses on adolescent mental health, fibromyalgia, substance abuse prevention, and psychological distress mechanisms. Her work contributes to UN SDGs related to health and well-being (SDG 3) and quality education (SDG 4).

Her recent studies include mixed-method analyses of rare genetic disorders’ impact on quality of life, child abuse prevalence in Mexico, and personality models in fibromyalgia patients. She has led 11 research projects, including initiatives on internet addiction prevention and neurofunctional connectivity in fibromyalgia.

Advising & Grants: Supervised 38 theses, including doctoral work on sexual self-concept and women’s health. Active in EU-funded and Spanish national grants (e.g., MINECO projects). Collaborates internationally on studies involving Spain, Mexico, and Iran.
