Francesc Obiols

Francesc Obiols is a Professor at the Department of Economics and Economic History at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). He is affiliated with the Grup de Recerca d'Anàlisi Macroeconòmica and Center for the study of the Organizations and Decisions in Economics (CODE). His research focuses on macroeconomic analysis, labor markets, education outcomes, and public health economics. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Pompeu Fabra University (1996) and a Licenciado en Economía from UAB (1990).

Key research interests include incomplete markets, borrowing constraints, labor market dynamics, and the impact of education on economic outcomes. Recent work explores social distancing models during epidemics and the macroeconomic implications of labor force participation.

Active in collaborative projects such as 'Mercado de trabajo y educación' (2022–2026) and 'Real-Time Economic Policy Against a Pandemic' (2021–2022), focusing on policy responses to economic challenges including pandemics and labor market disparities.

Contributions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals include work on Quality Education (SDG 4) and Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10).
