Maria Sole Costanzo is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Italian at Boston College, affiliated with the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame and degrees from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan. Her research focuses on Leon Battista Alberti, the history of the Italian language, and the intersection of vernacular and Latin humanism, with a particular interest in women’s roles in the High Italian Renaissance.
Her recent publications explore topics such as Alberti’s use of Tuscan vernacular, Petrarch’s bilingualism, and Renaissance poetic intertextuality. She contributes to the Isabella D’Este Archive (IDEA) project. Costanzo’s work bridges literary analysis, historical linguistics, and cultural studies, emphasizing textual analysis and historical context.
