Sultan Sooud Al Qassemi is a Visiting Lecturer at Boston College's Islamic Civilization & Societies Program. He is an Emirati columnist and researcher specializing in social, political, and cultural affairs in the Arab Gulf States. His Twitter feed gained prominence during the Arab Spring, earning him recognition by TIME magazine. He has held fellowships at MIT Media Lab (2014–2016), New York University's Hagop Kevorkian Center, Yale University (as a Greenberg World Fellow), and Georgetown University as an Adjunct Instructor.
His research interests include modern Middle Eastern art, architecture, and Gulf State dynamics. He founded the Barjeel Art Foundation to promote Arab art, with 100 works displayed at Sharjah Art Museum since 2018. Currently, he is researching modern architecture in Sharjah for an upcoming book.
Awards include TIME's Twitter recognition (2011) and a top Arabic Thought Leadership ranking (2018). He has taught courses like 'Politics of Modern Middle Eastern Art' and contributed to academic institutions across the U.S. and UAE.
