Maria Sobolewska is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Manchester, specializing in the political integration and representation of ethnic minorities in Britain and comparative perspectives. Her research focuses on public perceptions of ethnicity, immigrants, and integration, with a particular emphasis on Brexit's impact and electoral dynamics. She has authored influential works, including the award-winning book Brexitland (2020).
Key roles and affiliations include leading three ESRC grants on ethnic minority voters and Brexit, collaborating on major projects like the Centre for the Dynamics of Ethnicity (CoDE), and serving as an advisor to media and policymakers on ethnic politics. She has been honored with the 2022 WJM Mackenzie Prize, 2021 Joni Lovenduski Prize, and Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts (2017).
