Maria Sitzler-Sawicki

Maria Sitzler-Sawicki is an Adjunct Professor in the German Department at George Washington University since Fall 2018. She previously served as an instructor at the University of Maryland, teaching intermediate German undergraduate courses, and earned her B.A. in German Studies from the University of Mary Washington and M.A. in German Language and Literature from the University of Maryland.

Research Interests: Her academic focus spans Popliteratur, Migrationsliteratur, Weimarer Republik, Neue Sachlichkeit, Exilliteratur, and Nachkriegsliteratur/Trümmerliteratur. Her work examines post-war German literary movements, migration narratives, and cultural intersections with Italy.
