Maria Rezcallah

Maria Rezcallah is a Research Fellow at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), affiliated with the Faculty of Science and the Australian Institute for Microbiology and Infection. Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying inflammatory diseases, particularly COPD and pulmonary fibrosis. She investigates proteins like tristetraprolin (TTP) and tropomyosin 2.1, exploring their roles in inflammation regulation, fibroblast behavior, and extracellular matrix dynamics.

Her recent work examines how TTP modulates inflammatory responses in COPD and how tropomyosin interacts with fibronectin to drive fibrosis via TGF-β signaling. She also studies phosphorylation events in TTP that impact its functional roles in disease contexts.
