Prof. Maria Pavlova is a Professor of Psychological Gerontology at the University of Vechta’s Institute for Gerontology. She leads the Department of Psychological Gerontology, focusing on societal expectations of active aging, civic/political engagement, and mental health across the lifespan. Her career includes academic roles at institutions like the Friedrich-Schiller University Jena (2008–2017) and a Habilitation in Psychology (2014).

Publications: Over 30 peer-reviewed articles in outlets like *Journal of Personality*, *Journal of Happiness Studies*, and *Social Indicators Research*. Recent work explores mind wandering, dual-process models of conscious thought, and age-related differences in volunteering effects.
Grants & Collaborations: Co-PI on DFG projects with Klaus Rothermund and Maike Luhmann. Collaborates internationally on aging policy and civic engagement mechanisms.
