Maria Palazzi is a Professor of Design and Ohio Eminent Scholar in Art and Design Technology at The Ohio State University, where she coordinates the Experiential Media Design program and is affiliated with the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD). Her work bridges animation, visual communication, information design, and computing, with a focus on immersive training systems and experiential learning.

Palazzi’s research explores storytelling through computer-generated graphics and animation, with applications in semiconductor workforce training, social work education, and digital humanities. Her projects include collaborations with Intel Corporation, the Ohio Department of Medicaid, and renowned choreographer William Forsythe.

As an educator, Palazzi teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, advises MFA students, and leads the development of Ohio State’s new BSD program in Experiential Media Design. She previously founded ACCAD’s Digital Animation mentoring program for young women and served as ACCAD’s Director from 2001–2017 and 2021–2022.
