Maria Mayerchyk

Prof. Dr. Maria Mayerchyk serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Society and Economics, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Germany. Her distinguished academic trajectory includes visiting scholar positions at Harvard University's Ukrainian Research Institute (2012), Lund University (2019), and the University of Greifswald (2022-2023), alongside postdoctoral appointments at the University of South Florida (2007-2008) and the University of Alberta (2008-2009).

Her research program centers on decolonial frameworks interrogating gender, sexuality, and bodily politics, with specialized expertise in Eastern European queer and feminist movements. She critically examines epistemological production within diaspora communities while integrating folklore studies and traditional knowledge systems into contemporary sociological discourse.
