معرفی
Maria Luisa De Giorgi is a Tenured Researcher in the Department of Mathematics and Physics "Ennio De Giorgi" at the University of Salento since 1999. Her research focuses on laser ablation techniques for thin film deposition, plasma diagnostics, nanomaterials characterization (SEM/EDX), optical properties of advanced materials (UV-Vis, ellipsometry), and applications in cultural heritage conservation. She actively collaborates with institutions in France, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, and Greece.
- Primary Affiliation: Department of Mathematics and Physics "Ennio De Giorgi", University of Salento
- Secondary Roles: Scientific Director of Scanning Electron Microscopy Service (2018–2020), Member of Department Board (2020–2024)
Research Highlights: Specializes in laser-based diagnostics for thin films, nanocrystal deposition (spin-coating/drop-casting), and physicochemical characterization. Key applications include optoelectronics (LEDs, lasers), environmental radon monitoring, and laser cleaning of historical artifacts. She has coordinated projects under LASERLAB-EUROPE and PRIN 04, and contributed to national educational initiatives (Progetto Lauree Scientifiche).
Teaching: Leads Laboratory I (Physics BSc) and contributes to Laboratory II. Course topics cover experimental methodology, measurement uncertainty, statistical data analysis, and instrumentation. Her pedagogy integrates hands-on experiments with theoretical frameworks like the Franck-Condon principle and Fortrat parabola.
Scientific Leadership: Serves as referee for The Journal of Physical Chemistry, Applied Materials & Interfaces, and MDPI journals. Her work spans over 60 peer-reviewed publications with an h-index of 17 (Scopus).
