Maria Lindberg is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Care Sciences at the University of Gävle, with a clinical background as a registered nurse since 2000. She holds a PhD in Health Sciences from Uppsala University (2012), focusing on multidrug-resistant bacteria (MRB) and infection control. Her research emphasizes infection prevention in healthcare settings and sustainable working conditions for healthcare personnel, particularly within the Personnel's Work Environment, Learning and Leadership (PALL) research group.
Her work integrates clinical experience with academic research, including developing validated instruments like the Infection Prevention Appraisal Scale. She has led projects on healthcare-associated infections, leadership models, and interorganizational collaboration in addiction treatment. Lindberg has also contributed to improving healthcare staff training and patient safety initiatives through mixed-methods studies.
