معرفی
Scott Fridkin is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Hubert Department of Global Health at Emory University. He serves as Director of Antibiotic Stewardship Research for Emory Healthcare and previously held roles at the CDC. His work focuses on epidemiology and prevention of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), antibiotic resistance, and advancing metrics for infection surveillance. He has contributed to national initiatives like the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN), which monitors infections across 3,000 U.S. healthcare facilities. Dr. Fridkin’s research emphasizes data-driven solutions for HAI prevention, policy impact, and antibiotic stewardship optimization.
Education: MD from Loyola University, Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) training at the CDC.
Research interests include multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs), geospatial analysis of healthcare infections, and social determinants of health disparities in infection outcomes. He has published extensively on topics such as Clostridioides difficile infection recurrence, SARS-CoV-2 transmission in long-term care facilities, and racial inequities in healthcare-associated infection risks. His work integrates clinical, public health, and policy perspectives to improve infection control practices.
Key contributions include validating risk-adjusted metrics for antibiotic prescribing, analyzing healthcare personnel infection risks during the pandemic, and developing strategies to reduce preventable hospital-acquired infections. His research also explores the impact of vaccination and public health interventions on infection transmission dynamics.
