Maria Liljeroos is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Linköping University's Medical Faculty, within the Department of Nursing and Reproductive Health. She holds dual roles as a clinical nurse and care developer at Mälar Hospital and the primary care development unit in Eskilstuna. As Process Manager for Region Sörmland's Heart Failure Process, she pioneered nurse-based heart failure clinics in primary care, the first in Sweden. She supervises Specialist Trainee (ST) doctors in scientific work and teaches cardiac care courses at Linköping University and other institutions, serving as an examiner at both undergraduate and advanced levels.
Education & Career:
Registered Nurse since 1988, PhD awarded in 2017. Active member of the CESAR Network and Chair of the Board of Healthcare Professionals in Cardiology (VIC).
Research Focus:
Her work bridges clinical practice and research to enhance heart failure and palliative care. Key areas include patient-caregiver dyads, remote monitoring technologies (e.g., telemedicine, m-health), and improving primary care coordination for chronic conditions. Her studies emphasize caregiver burden, psycho-educational interventions, and patient well-being.
