Ingela Thylén is an Associate Professor at Linköping University's Department of Health, Medicine and Caring Sciences (HMV), specifically within the Division of Nursing Sciences and Reproductive Health. She holds an adjunct role while also serving as a specialist in pacemaker and ICD care at Region Östergötland. Her primary focus is cardiovascular nursing, with expertise in patient and family experiences during sudden cardiac events, implantable cardiac devices, and healthcare system optimization.
Research interests include acute myocardial infarction behavior, SCAD impact on well-being, and interventions to improve self-care in heart failure patients. She currently supervises three PhD students as main advisor and co-supervises two others. Collaborations involve strategic networks like LiU CircM and the CESAR cardiovascular research group.
Her work bridges clinical practice and academia, emphasizing patient-centered approaches. Notable contributions include studies on family-witnessed resuscitation, tele-nursing in acute care, and the ethical dimensions of ICD deactivation. She actively participates in guideline development, such as the 2021 ESC Guidelines on cardiac pacing.
