Dr. Maria Kovalchuk is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Classics at Wake Forest University. She specializes in Latin language and Hellenistic poetry, with doctoral research from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.Phil from Cambridge. Her work examines thematic parallels between mythological figures and pastoral archetypes in Theocritus.
Research explores narrative structures in ancient texts, humor in classical literature, and cross-cultural influences in Mediterranean poetry. Current projects analyze representations of naivete in Idylls and their sociocultural implications.
