Maria Jose Bordera-Amerigo is an Associate Professor of Spanish in the Department of Modern Languages at Randolph-Macon College. She teaches a wide range of courses, including elementary to advanced Spanish, Medical Spanish, Spanish Cinema and Culture, and literature/civilization courses. She also advises the Spanish honorary society Sigma Delta Pi and supervises the Bilingual Book Children's Library Project.

Her research focuses on 20th and 21st-century Spanish culture and literature, with a strong emphasis on integrating immersive technologies (VR, XR), Artificial Intelligence, and digital tools into humanities research and foreign language pedagogy. She recently completed a VR adaptation of Gustavo A. Bécquer's short story 'Spirit Mountain.'
Notable projects include the Yellow Jackets Bilingual Books Online Library (2020–present), which reflects her commitment to bilingual education and community engagement. Her expertise extends to translation, bilingualism in the U.S., and GDPR-related data regulation considerations in academic contexts.
