Maria Jesus Cano Bernabe

Maria Jesus Cano Bernabe is a Professor at the University of Murcia's Faculty of Biology, Department of Plant Biology. She is affiliated with the research group 'Biology, Ecology and Evolution of Bryophytes and Spermatophytes.' Her work focuses on bryophyte flora, taxonomy, phytocenology, and biogeography in southeastern Spain. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Murcia in 1995 with a thesis titled Contribución a la fitocenología, taxonomía, florística y biogeografía de los briofitos del sudeste de España. Estudios en la provincia de Alicante, supervised by Dr. Juan Guerra Montes and Dr. Rosa María Ros Espín.

Research Interests: Her research emphasizes the ecological and evolutionary aspects of bryophytes and spermatophytes, integrating field studies with taxonomic and biogeographic analyses. Key areas include plant community ecology, biodiversity conservation, and the distribution patterns of mosses and liverworts in Mediterranean regions.
