معرفی
Dr. Maria Jelinic is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology & Pharmacology at La Trobe University. Her research focuses on cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, particularly hypertension, obesity, and diabetes. She investigates inflammatory mechanisms and novel therapeutic strategies using rodent models. Dr. Jelinic holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne (2017) and has secured $3.7M in competitive funding. She is actively involved in training the next generation of biomedical researchers.
Research Interests:
- Mechanisms driving cardiac, vascular, and renal complications in cardiometabolic diseases
- Sex differences in metabolic syndrome progression
- Development of mouse models for human atherosclerosis
- Pharmacological interventions targeting immune cells to reduce end-organ damage
Articles: Her recent work emphasizes hypertension mechanisms, metabolic syndrome, and single-cell transcriptomics. Studies include sex-specific effects of diets, IL-18's role in vascular pathology, and hesperidin's insulin-resistance impact.
Grants & Funding: Over $3.7M secured, including an NHMRC/National Heart Foundation Early Career Fellowship (2018-2022). She collaborates widely and mentors HDR students.
Labs/Teams: Active in the Centre for Cardiovascular Biology and Disease Research at La Trobe University.
