Joshua Speed

Joshua Speed is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at University of Mississippi Medical Center's School of Medicine. His laboratory (G553) investigates cardiovascular and renal physiology, with specific focus on metabolic syndrome, circadian rhythms, and mechanisms by which salt intake affects metabolism.

Research employs genetically modified rodent models, adiposity measurement through echo MRI, insulin sensitivity testing, cell culture techniques, and molecular analysis including droplet digital PCR and Western Blotting. His work examines lipid metabolism and insulin signaling pathways in adipose and muscle tissue.
