Maria Inmaculada Jaén Figuerova serves as a Professor at the University of Seville within both the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences and the Faculty of Tourism and Finance. She is affiliated with the Department of Applied Economics I and the International Postgraduate School (EIP), where she teaches World and Spanish Economics courses while conducting research through the Entrepreneurship & Innovation (E&I) research group.
Her research program investigates the intersection of cultural values, socioeconomic conditions, and entrepreneurial behavior with particular emphasis on gender dynamics and immigrant entrepreneurship. Professor Jaén Figuerova examines how cultural frameworks shape entrepreneurial intentions, analyzes gender disparities in business creation, and evaluates the effectiveness of microcredit programs for immigrant entrepreneurs. Her work consistently addresses practical policy implications for fostering inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystems.
Analysis of her publication record reveals a sustained research trajectory examining both theoretical models of entrepreneurial intention formation and empirical applications across diverse socioeconomic contexts. Her recent work demonstrates increasing focus on crisis response (particularly post-pandemic entrepreneurship), gender-inclusive frameworks, and cross-cultural comparative studies of entrepreneurial ecosystems.
Professor Jaén Figuerova has directed doctoral research including J. A. Hueso's 2021 dissertation on personal values and entrepreneurial intentions. She has secured continuous research funding through multiple projects including the long-running "Informe GEM Provincia de Sevilla" series (2021-2023), the "PROYECTO VIE" cultural values study, and international collaborations with the OECD on "Inclusive Entrepreneurship Country Policy Assessments" for Spain spanning from 2018 to 2023.
As an active member of the Entrepreneurship & Innovation research group, she contributes to both academic knowledge production and practical policy development, regularly publishing in high-impact journals while translating research findings into actionable recommendations for regional and national entrepreneurship support programs.
