Maria Huhmarniemi is Vice Dean and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Design, University of Lapland. She specializes in Arctic art and design education, focusing on cultural sustainability and socially engaged art practices in Arctic regions. Her work bridges artistic research with community-driven initiatives, emphasizing environmental and societal challenges.
- Leading the UArctic Thematic Network on Arctic Sustainable Arts and Design (ASAD).
- Actively organizing international art exhibitions and educational programs, including Relate North 2025 and the Living in the Landscape Summer School.
