Maria Hodermarska is a Clinical Associate Professor at the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, New York University, where she has taught Drama Therapy since 1995. She coordinates creative arts therapies for Project Common Bond, an international initiative supporting youth affected by violence, and leads the Theater and Health Lab's As Performance Series. Her clinical work spans substance abuse treatment for individuals with developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injury, with extensive consulting roles in mental health programs across New York City and China.
Her research focuses on how theater-based interventions impact well-being, particularly in marginalized communities. Key areas include trauma recovery, autism spectrum disorder, and community-building through performance. She has presented at global institutions like Roehampton University, Yale, and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and holds certifications in drama therapy, substance abuse counseling, and creative arts therapy.
