Maria Harder is a Senior Lecturer at Mälardalen University's School of Health, Care and Social Welfare, within the Division of Caring Sciences and Health Care Pedagogics. She specializes in public health nursing, with a focus on child and school health care, children's participation in healthcare visits, and family-centered care. She co-leads the interdisciplinary ChiP research group (children's rights to health, protection, promotion, and participation), comprising 20 members exploring health and rights issues for children, youth, and families.
Her roles include care development projects in Region Västmanland, such as Family-focused home visits and caries prevention initiatives. She serves on the Ethics Review Authority in Uppsala and has led specialist nursing education programs, currently developing a new primary care nursing curriculum. She supervises doctoral students and was promoted to associate professor in 2018.
Her expertise spans educational program development, course design, and teaching across all academic levels, integrating practical and theoretical healthcare pedagogics.
