Maria Garro is an Associate Professor at the University of Palermo, affiliated with the School of Human Sciences and Cultural Heritage and the Department of Psychological, Pedagogical, Physical Exercise and Training Sciences. Her teaching focuses on psychodynamic models in institutional contexts, including courses like Psychodynamics of Penitentiary Services and External Criminal Execution, Community Psychodynamics and Institutional Relations, and Psychodynamic Models of Networking.
Her research explores vulnerable populations, social justice, and community dynamics. Key areas include legal and social psychology, restorative justice, and interventions for marginalized groups such as LGBTIQ children and migrants. Projects like 'Empowering LGBTIQ children in vulnerable contexts to combat violence across Europe' and 'Navigating towards a conscious use of the web' highlight her interdisciplinary approach.
