Maria Carme Gubern Mérida is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Girona (UdG) since 2016. She coordinates the subject "Biological Bases of Cerebrovascular Pathology" in the Master's Degree in Cellular Biology, Biomedicine and Health.

- Member of RICORS-ICTUS (Thematic Network for Cooperative Research in Health)
- Advisor and collaborator of the Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology research group at UdG
Research Focus: Her work centers on identifying blood biomarkers for cerebrovascular pathologies, including:
- Diagnosis of carotid stenosis and vulnerable plaque prognosis
- Hematoma growth prognosis in intracerebral hemorrhage
- Cerebral aneurysm instability
- Motor recovery prediction in stroke patients
Academic Leadership: She has co-directed one doctoral thesis and currently supervises two ongoing theses, while tutoring students in internships and final degree/master's projects since 2015.
Scientific Outreach: Participated in initiatives like the "¿Mito o ciencia?" virtual escape room, Ciència en Equip Fair (2023-2024), "Descobert a Girona" conferences (2020), and stroke workshops for secondary students.
