Dr Maria Burggraef is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the School of Engineering and Materials Science, Queen Mary University of London, supervised by Prof Andrew Livingston. She holds an MSc in Chemistry and a PhD in Chemical Engineering.

Dr Burggraef's research centers on synthesizing defined molecular weight poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) using organic solvent nanofiltration techniques (Nanostar Sieving), with specific focus on pharmaceutical PEGylation applications. Her expertise encompasses method development and troubleshooting for UPLC-MS alongside GPC/SEC, MALDI-TOF, and NMR spectroscopy, enabling precise characterization of polymer structures for drug delivery optimization.

Currently translating research into industrial applications through an Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) grant, she actively seeks collaborations with medical researchers specializing in PEGylated therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, and pre-clinical development to advance pharmaceutical translation.

Dr Burggraef works within Prof Livingston's research group, focusing on membrane technology applications in pharmaceutical sciences, with ongoing efforts to bridge chemical engineering innovations with clinical drug delivery requirements.
