Maria Auad is a Charles E. Gavin III Distinguished Professor and Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Faculty Development at Auburn University's Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. She holds a Ph.D. in Material Sciences and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Mar del Plata, Argentina. Her research focuses on polymer material science, renewable materials, and sustainable applications in structural and biomedical fields. She leads initiatives in the Center for Polymers and Advanced Composites (CPAC), advancing projects on bio-based adhesives, lignin valorization, and 3D-printed composites.
Her work includes developing eco-friendly materials from biomass, such as bio-oil-based adhesives and supercapacitors. She has secured grants for projects like the National Science Foundation (NSF) Major Research Instrumentation award for additive manufacturing research. Notable achievements include the W. Allen and Martha Reed Endowed Professorship and contributions to conferences on advanced composites. Her administrative roles enhance graduate education and faculty development at Auburn Engineering.
