Mari Alschuler is an Associate Professor of Social Work at Youngstown State University (YSU) since 2013, with over 30 years of clinical social work experience in New York City and South Florida. She holds a Ph.D. in Leadership and Education from Barry University (2012), alongside advanced degrees in creative writing, counseling psychology, and organizational psychology. Dr. Alschuler is a licensed clinical social worker, credentialed poetry therapist, and published author in creative fields. Her academic roles include teaching advanced clinical practice, field education, LGBTQ+ social work, and military social work courses. She leads initiatives on veteran student success, mindfulness in social work training, and Buddhist-informed practice methods.
